Extra stadium info – Chang Arena
The construction of the Chang Arena, which is nicknamed Thunder Castle, started in 2010. It opened as one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Thailand. On 14 July 2011, the national football team of Thailand played their first game at the football stadium. The match between Thailand and Myanmar ended in a 1-0 victory for the home side. A few days later, the national football team of Thailand also won their first FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Chang Arena. Thailand defeated Palestine 1-0 in that game. On 7 March 2012, the stadium hosted its first-ever AFC Champions League match. Buriram United won the game against Kashiwa Reysol from Japan 3-2. 15,000 fans attended the Asian championship match.
Buriram United
Buriram United, the first sports club from Buriram with a value of at least $10 million, played their first match at the Chang Arena in 2011. That year, they drew an average home attendance of 15,000 in 34 Thai top-flight football league games. 26 of those 34 games ended in a victory for Buriram United. Seven of those 34 games ended in a draw. In 2011, Buriram United were crowned Thai football champions after gathering 85 points in the Thai top-flight football league. They also won the Thai cup tournament in 2011.

Buriram United were crowned Thai football champions six times in the 2010s. Muangthong United won the other four Thai championship titles that decade. In the 2010s, Buriram United won the Thai cup tournament four times. They won five Thai super cup titles in that decade. Buriram United won their first-ever Thai super cup title in 2013. They won the title after beating Muangthong United. Buriram United and Muangthong United became the first sports clubs from Thailand with 1 million followers on their main social media page.
