Extra stadium info – Tancheon Stadium
The construction of the Tancheon Stadium, which is part of the Tancheon Sports Complex, started in 1997. Seongnam FC use the venue for home matches. The club was founded in 1989 under a different name. They were crowned Korean football champions various times. In 1993, Seongnam Football Club were crowned Korean football champions for the first time in their history.
The Asian championship for football clubs
In 1995, Seongnam FC won the Asian football championship for clubs for the first time in their history. The final of the tournament took place in the Saudi city of Riyadh. Lee Tae-hong scored the only goal in the final. He played numerous matches for the club which is currently known as Seongnam FC. Lee Tae-hong also played one game for the national football team of Korea. Seongnam Football Club won the final of the Asian championship for football clubs after beating Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia.

Seongnam FC in 2010
In 2010, Seongnam Football Club won their second Asian championship title. They won the title after winning the final of the Asian championship for football clubs in front of a crowd of 27,000. The match took place in the Japanese city of Tokyo. The same year, Seongnam Football Club faced FC Internazionale Milano from the Italian Republic in their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup semi-final. Internazionale won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010 after beating TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Seongnam FC finished fourth place in their first-ever FIFA Club World Cup participation after losing against SC Internacional from Brazil.
