The Incheon Football Stadium was one of the six venues for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The stadium’s first match for the youth football tournament ended in a 3-3 draw. Ecuador faced the United States in that game. The stadium opened with a Korean top-flight football league match between Incheon United and the Suwon Samsung Bluewings. 17,000 fans showed up for the game. Incheon United was founded in 2003. They played numerous Korean top-flight football league games.
