The venue opened with a concert of the world famous popstar Madonna. The Chiba Lotte Marines use the ZOZO Marine Stadium for home matches. The baseball club was founded in 1950 under a different name. The club which is currently known as the Chiba Lotte Marines won the inaugural Japan Series. The championship series took place in 1950. The 1950 Japan Series consisted of six games. The club which is currently known as the Chiba Lotte Marines won four of the six games in the 1950 Japan Series. The first of those six games took place in the city of Tokyo in front of 23,000 spectators.
