Michael Jackson, who became one of the best-selling artists in the world, performed at the venue. On 3 November 1986, the Yokohama Stadium hosted an Australian football match between Carlton and Hawthorn. It was the first game between two Australian Football League clubs at the Yokohama Stadium. The match attracted a crowd of 25,000, which became a record attendance for an Australian football game which took place outside of Australia. In 1987, the record attendance was broken when 32,000 people attended an Australian football match in Canada.
The Yokohama DeNA BayStars
The Yokohama DeNA BayStars use the Yokohama Stadium for home games. The baseball club, which is among the major Japanese baseball clubs, was founded in 1949 under a different name. The club which is currently known as the Yokohama DeNA BayStars won the Japan Series in 1960 for the first time in their history. They won the Japan Series in 1998 for the second time in their history.
