The construction of the MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima started in 2007. The Hiroshima Toyo Carp, a Nippon Professional Baseball club, moved to the venue in 2009. They drew an average attendance of 26,000 in 72 home games during their first Nippon Professional Baseball season at the MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima. The Hiroshima Toyo Carp won the Japan Series in 1979 for the first time in their history. One year later, they won the Japan Series for the second time in their history. The Hiroshima Toyo Carp won the Japan Series twice in the 1980s.
