Masanori Murakami, the first Japanese baseball player who played in Major League Baseball, is one of the former players of the Hanshin Tigers. He made his MLB debut for the San Francisco Giants from the United States.
The 1985 Japan Series
The Hanshin Tigers won the Japan Series in 1985 for the first time in their history after beating the club which is currently known as the Saitama Seibu Lions. The 1985 Japan Series consisted of six games. The first one took place at the home of the Seibu Lions in front of 32,000 spectators. The Tigers won the match.
