The stadium opened in 1979 as the Seibu Lions Stadium. The Saitama Seibu Lions use the Belluna Dome for home matches. The baseball club became one of the first Japanese baseball clubs with 100,000 followers on its main social media page. They won the Japan Series in 1956 for the first time in their history. It was the seventh edition of the championship series. The club which is currently known as the Saitama Seibu Lions won the 1956 Japan Series after beating the Yomiuri Giants, the first club with 20 Japan Series titles.
The 1991 Japan Series
In 1991, the Seibu Lions became the second club with 10 Japan Series titles. They won the 1991 Japan Series after defeating the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. The 1991 Japan Series consisted of seven matches. The first of those seven matches took place at the Belluna Dome in front of 31,000 fans. The Seibu Lions won the game 11-2. They won three more matches in the 1991 Japan Series.
