The venue is also used for athletics. Sepidrood Rasht was founded in 1968. In 2017, they were promoted to the Iranian top-flight football league for the first time in their history. Sepidrood Rasht finished 13th place in their first-ever top-flight league season. They played several home games in front of capacity crowds of 15,000 in that league season.
