The stadium is also used for athletics. It was inaugurated by Suharto, a former president of Indonesia. The national football team of Indonesia played several home matches at the venue. PERSIS use the stadium named Stadion Manahan for home games. The club was founded in 1923 under a different name. They were crowned Indonesian football champions several times.
