Extra stadium info – GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium
The construction of the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium started in 2001. The stadium, which is also known as a venue for American football and athletics, is located in Gachibowli. It is located next to the venue which hosted the first-ever Pro Kabaddi League matches for the Gujarat Giants, the Haryana Steelers, the Tamil Thalaivas and the UP Yoddha. The clubs from Gujarat, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh are among the first kabaddi clubs with 100,000 followers on their main social media page. Rahul Chaudhari, who was born in Uttar Pradesh, played for the Thamil Thalaivas. He became the first kabaddi player with 1 million followers on his main social media page.
Fateh Hyderabad and Hyderabad FC
Football club Fateh Hyderabad used the Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium for numerous home games. The venue became the home of Hyderabad FC, the first football club from Telangana with 100,000 followers on its main social media page, in 2019. They lost their inaugural Indian Super League game. The match took place on 25 October 2019. A few days later, Marcelo Leite Pereira from Brazil scored the first ISL goal for Hyderabad FC. On 2 November 2019, Hyderabad FC won their inaugural ISL home game 2-1. 12,000 people showed up for the game between Hyderabad FC and the Kerala Blasters.
Hyderabad FC versus the Kerala Blasters
In 2022, Hyderabad FC won the Indian Super League for the first time in their history. They won the title after beating the Kerala Blasters in a penalty shoot-out. On 15 March 2022, the Kerala Blasters reached the final of the Indian Super League after beating Jamshedpur FC in a two-legged semi-final. The Blasters won the first leg. The second leg ended in a draw. One day later, Hyderabad FC reached the final of the Indian Super League after beating the club which is currently known as Mohun Bagan in a two-legged semi-final. Hyderbad FC won both legs.
