The Kalinga Stadium is used for several events, like athletics, football, rugby sevens and rugby union. Odisha Football Club, the first sports club from Odisha with 100,000 followers on its main social media page, use the venue for home games. They play in the Indian Super League, which is known as the top-flight football league of India. On 27 December 2019, Odisha FC played their first ISL match at the Kalinga Stadium. They won the game against Jamshedpur FC 2-1.
