Extra stadium info – Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium
The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium has an athletics track. The former football club Pune City played numerous matches at the venue. Football Club Pune City was founded in 2014. On 26 October 2014, they played their first Indian Super League home game at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium. FC Pune City won the match 2-0. They finished sixth place in the first-ever edition of the Indian Super League. Football Club Pune City won four of their 14 ISL games during that football season. Four of those 14 games ended in a draw. FC Pune City was dissolved in 2019.
David Sergio Trezeguet
In 2014, the world famous football player David Sergio Trezeguet became the first marquee player of FC Pune City. He scored the third and fourth Indian Super League goal for Pune City. Trezeguet played in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final with the national football team of the French Republic, commonly as France. The Italian Republic, commonly known as Italy, won the 2006 FIFA World Cup final after winning a penalty shoot-out. David Trezeguet was the only one who missed a penalty in the penalty shoot-out.
Kostas Katsouranis and the 2004 UEFA European Football Championship final
Kostas Katsouranis scored the first two Indian Super League goals for FC Pune City. He scored the goal against FC Goa. In 2004, Katsouranis won the European championship for national football teams with the Hellenic Republic, commonly known as Greece. He won the 2004 UEFA European Football Championship final after beating the Portuguese Republic, commonly known as Portugal, with the Hellenic Republic. Angelos Charisteas scored the only goal in the final. The Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro played in the final. He is widely regarded as one of the best football players ever.
