The Indira Gandhi Stadium became the largest sports venue by capacity in the city of Purnia. It is named after the third prime minister of India. Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi was born in 1917. She became the first female prime minister of India. Indira Gandhi was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. She served as prime minister until her assassination in 1984. Indira Gandhi was killed by her bodyguards. In 2020, she was named one of TIME’s 100 most powerful women of the 20th century.
