The stadium is also used for athletics. In 2011, Arsenal Football Club from the United Kingdom played their first game at the Yiwu Meihu Stadium. The world famous football club became one of the first sports clubs with 10 million followers on its main social media page. In 2006, they played against the Spanish side FC Barcelona in their first-ever UEFA Champions League final. FC Barcelona won the European championship final.
