Extra stadium info – Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Centre Stadium
The construction of the stadium, which is part of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Centre, started in 2009. It is used for several events, like athletics, concerts and football. The Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Centre Stadium opened as the largest sports venue by capacity in Zhejiang. The venue, nicknamed Big Lotus, became one of the largest stadiums by capacity in Asia.

The Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Centre Stadium was the main venue for the Asian Games in 2023. Xi Jinping, who became the leader of China, opened the sports event. In 2003, the stadium hosted the men’s football final for the Asian Games. The Republic of Korea, commonly known as South Korea, won the match after beating Japan 2-1. In 2023, the women’s football final of the Asian Games was won by Japan after beating the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea.
