Nantong Zhiyun Football Club use the football stadium for home games. The club was founded in 2016. Nanthong Zhiyun is named after a tower of historic significance in Nantong. The tower was included in the first-ever badge of the club. A wolf was also included in the first-ever badge of Nantong Zhiyun FC. Wei Xin became the first manager of the club. He played numerous Chinese top-flight football league games for the club which folded as Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic in 2022. Wei Xin also played numerous matches for the national football team of China.
Nantong Zhiyun in the 2010s
In 2016, Nantong Zhiyun played their first games in the third level of Chinese football. In 2019, they finished 12th place in their first-ever football season in the second level of Chinese football. Nantong Zhiyun Football Club gathered 33 points in that domestic league season. They won eight of the 30 domestic league matches in 2019. That year, Nantong Zhiyun drew an average home attendance of 11,000 in 15 domestic league games.

In 2022, Nantong Zhiyun Football Club finished third place in their fourth league season in the second level of Chinese football. They were promoted to the Chinese Super League, the top-flight football league of China, after finishing third place. In 2022, Nantong Zhiyun FC gathered 70 points in 34 domestic league matches. They won 21 of those 34 matches.
Nantong Zhiyun in 2023
Nantong Zhiyun Football Club played their first-ever Chinese Super League game on 15 April 2023. Romário Baldé, who was born in Guinea-Bissau in 1996, scored the first-ever Chinese Super League goal for Nantong Zhiyu in that game. A few days later, Nantong Zhiyun won their first-ever home game in the Chinese Super League. Román Rubilio Castillo Álvarez, who was born in Honduras in 1991, scored the only goal in the match. Nantong Zhiyu finished 14th place in their maiden Chinese top-flight football league season after gathering 22 points in 30 games. They won four of those 30 games. Nantong Zhiyu drew an average home attendance of 15,000 in their maiden Chinese Super League season.
