Guangzhou FC use the stadium for home games. In 2011, they were crowned Chinese football champions for the first time in their history. Guangzhou Football Club drew an average home attendance of 45,000 during that league season. In 2013, they won the Asian championship for football clubs for the first time in their history. Later that year, Guangzhou FC became the first Chinese football club which participated in the world championship for football clubs. They finished fourth place in the tournament that year.
