Extra stadium info – Bank of Dongguan Basketball Centre
The construction of the Bank of Dongguan Basketball Centre, which is also used for concerts, started in 2009. It opened as one of the largest indoor sports venues by capacity in the People’s Republic of China. The arena named Bank of Dongguan Basketball Centre opened with a basketball match. Several basketball players who played numerous games in the world famous National Basketball Association played in the basketball game.
Yi Jianlian
Yi Jianlian, one of the first athletes with 10 million followers on his main social media page, played numerous matches at the Bank of Dongguan Basketball Centre. He was born in Guangdong in 1984. Yi Jianlian played his first games in the Chinese Basketball Association, the top-flight football league of China, in 2002. Yi Jianlian won the Asian championship for national basketball teams three times with China. In 2005, he won his first Asian championship title in Qatar. Yi Jianlian won his second Asian championship title in the Chinese city of Wuhan in 2011. In 2015, he won his third Asian championship title in the Chinese city of Changsha.
Yi Jianlian and his NBA career
Yi Jianlian played professional basketball for several National Basketball Association clubs. He played his first NBA game for the Milwaukee Bucks from Wisconsin. The Bucks won their first NBA championship title in 1971. In 2008, Yi Jianlian signed for the club which is currently known as the Brooklyn Nets. He left the Nets for the Washington Wizards in 2010. The basketball club from Washington won their first NBA championship title in 1978. In 2012, Yi Jianlian signed with his fourth NBA club when he signed with the Dallas Mavericks from Texas. One year earlier, the Mavericks won their first NBA championship title after beating the Miami Heat from Florida.
