The construction of the stadium started in 1998. The original design for the Aoti Main Stadium was announced in 1999. It was the main venue for the 2010 Asian Games. The stadium, which is located at the former site of an airport, is among the largest sports venues by capacity in Asia. The Aoti Main Stadium has an athletics track. In the 2000s, two world-famous football clubs from England played at the venue. Manchester United played at the stadium in 2007. One year later, Chelsea FC played at the venue. Manchester United won their first-ever world championship title in 1999 after beating Palmeiras from Brazil.
