Extra stadium info – Beijing Fengtai Stadium
The Beijing Fengtai Stadium became one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Beijing. In 2007, it hosted a football match of FC Barcelona, the first-ever club to win two FIFA Club World Cup titles. FC Barcelona, the second sports club with 100 million followers on its main social media page, won the match against Beijing Guoan at the Beijing Fengtai Stadium. Giovani dos Santos Ramírez from the United Mexican States scored the first goal of the match. Andrés Iniesta Luján from Spain scored the second goal of the game. He scored the only goal against the national football team of the Netherlands in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final. The Brazilian football legend Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho, scored the third goal of the match.
Beijing Guoan
Beijing Guoan Football Club, one of the first Chinese sports clubs with a value of at least $100 million, played numerous matches at the Beijing Fengtai Stadium. In 1957, they were crowned Chinese football champions for the first time in their history. Beijing Guoan drew an average home attendance of 35,000 in that domestic league season. In 1958, they won their second Chinese championship title.
Beijing Renhe and Sun Jihai
The former football club Beijing Renhe also played numerous matches at the Beijing Fengtai Stadium. Sun Jihai ended his professional career with Beijing Renhe. In 2002, he became the first Chinese football player who scored in the world famous Premier League when he defeated Birmingham City FC with Manchester City FC. Sun Jihai also played for the English football clubs Crystal Palace FC and Sheffield United FC before he returned to China. He played for several Chinese clubs before he ended his professional football career in 2016.
