The Hefei Olympic Sports Centre Stadium is also known as a venue for athletics. It opened as one of the largest sports venues by capacity in China. In 2011, the national football team of China played their first match at the stadium. They won the match against Jamaica 1-0 in front of 14,000 spectators. Zhao Peng scored the only goal of the game. The national football team of China faced Thailand in their second match at the Hefei Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.
