The national football team of Bahrain use the Bahrain National Stadium for home games. On 14 August 2019, they won the WAFF Championship for the first time in their history after defeating Iraq. A few months later, the national football team of Bahrain won the Arabian Gulf Cup for the first time in their history. They won the title after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0. Ali Madan, Jasim al-Shaikh, Thiago Augusto Fernandes, Abdulla al-Haza’a, Mohamed Marhoon, Mohamed al-Hardan and Mohamed al-Romaihi all scored for Bahrain during the Arabian Gulf Cup in 2019.
