The construction of the Heroes National Stadium started in 2011. It hosted the inauguration of Zambia’s sixth president Edgar Lungu. Guy Lindsay Scott was the president of Zambia before Edgar Lungu became the president. The national football team of Zambia played numerous matches at the venue. In 2012, they were crowned African football champions for the first time in their history. Hervé Renard, who was born in the French Republic in 1968, was the manager of Zambia when they won the title.
