The stadium named Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah hosted its first-ever FIFA Club World Cup match in 2014. It became one of the venues used by the national football team of Morocco. In 2022, Morocco became the first national football team from Africa in a FIFA World Cup semi-final. They reached the semi-finals after beating Spain. The French Republic, commonly known as France, defeated Morocco in their inaugural FIFA World Cup semi-final.
