The construction of the Grand stade de Marrakech, which is also used for athletics, lasted seven years. It is among the main sports venues in Morocco. The first two football matches at the stadium took place on 5 January 2011. The first one was a game between Wydad and Paris Saint-Germain. The second one was a game between KAMC and Olympique lyonnais. Both matches ended in a draw.

The Grand stade de Casablanca hosted the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup final. The world championship game was won by the German side FC Bayern München after defeating Raja, the first Moroccan sports club with 1 million followers on its main social media page. 37,000 people attended the football match. The Grand stade de Marrakech hosted its second FIFA World Cup final in 2014. The game was won by the Spanish side Real Madrid after defeating the Argentine side San Lorenzo. Sergio Ramos García scored the first goal of the match. He won the FIFA World Cup with the national football team of Spain after beating the Netherlands. KACM
KACM use the Grand stade de Marrakech for home games. The football club was founded in 1947 and it became the most popular sports club from the city of Marrakesh. They were crowned Moroccan football champions in 1958 for the first time in their history. It was the second edition of the Moroccan top-flight football league. The first edition of the Moroccan top division was won by Wydad. KACM finished second place in the first edition. In 1963, they won the Moroccan cup tournament for football clubs for the first time in their history after beating HUSA.
