Extra stadium info – Kamuzu Stadium
The stadium is named after Hastings Kamuzu Banda, a former president of Malawi. He became the first president of Malawi in the 1960s. On 25 November 1997, he died in South Africa. The national football team of Malawi played numerous matches at the Kamuzu Stadium. In 1984, they participated in the African championship for national football teams for the first time in their history. The Mighty Wanderers and the Nyasa Big Bullets use the Kamuzu Stadium for home games. They were both crowned football champions of Malawi several times.
