Extra stadium info – Bingu National Stadium
The Bingu National Stadium is also used for athletics. It hosted numerous home games of the national football team of Malawi. On 29 April 2017, they lost their first match at the Bingu National Stadium against Madagascar. Ronny Van Geneugden from Belgium was the manager of Malawi that day. In 1984, the national football team of Malawi participated in the African Cup of Nations for the first time in their history. Algeria, Cameroon, the Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo also participated in the African football championship.
