The stadium became one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Cameroon. In 2022, the Stade Roumdé Adjia hosted its first Africa Cup of Nations match. The national football team of Nigeria won the game against Egypt 1-0. Kelechi Promise Iheanacho scored the only goal of the game. 11,000 spectators attended the African football championship match.
