The stadium opened as the Bonney Field. In 2014, the venue hosted the first-ever league match won by the club which is currently known as the Phoenix Rising. The Sacramento Republic drew an average home attendance of 11,000 in their first-ever third-level football season in 2014. In 2015, the club signed Kaleemullah Khan, who played numerous matches for the national football team of Pakistan. He became the first football player who played for the Sacramento Republic with at least 100,000 followers on his main social media page.
