The venue is also sometimes used for concerts. Bristol City and Bristol Rugby use the Ashton Gate Stadium for home games. Bristol City was founded in 1894. In 1907, they finished second place in the English top-flight football league for the first time in their history. Bristol City drew an average home attendance of 14,000 in that league season. Bristol Rugby was founded in 1888. They played numerous matches in the top-flight rugby union league of England.
