HJK (Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi) and IFK Helsingfors are the tenants of the stadium. In 1998, HJK played their first-ever UEFA Champions League game. They lost the European football championship match in Eindhoven against PSV. The Dutch football club from Eindhoven won the European championship for football clubs in 1988 for the first time in their history after beating the Portuguese side Benfica. The same year, PSV became one of the first football clubs in a world championship final when they faced Club Nacional de Football from Uruguay.
