The stadium hosted its first match of the Indian Premier League, the first cricket league with 10 million followers on its main social media page, in 2010. In 2011, the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium was one of the Cricket World Cup venues. Four matches of the Cricket World Cup took place at the stadium that year.
